Wales triumph at the All British & Open Field Archery Championships 2019

On the weekend of 25 and 26 May, 17 Welsh archers travelled to Northern Ireland to compete at the All British & Open Field Archery Championships 2019 hosted by Lough Cuan Bowmen at Mount Stewart.

We’re pleased to announce that 7 of those archers are returning to Wales as British Field Champions as the WAA team finished 1st with a score of 4571 ahead of England (4298), Northern Ireland (3938), and Scotland for the first time in over a decade.

The winning Wales team consisted of:

Tapani Kalmaru, Rhodri Curnow, Kayleigh Baylis, Simon Price, Victoria Williams, Ceri Thomas, John Davies, and Alex Newnes

Alongside those in the Welsh team, several Welsh archers were also medal winners:   

1st place Gents CUL: Tapani Kalmaru

1st place Ladies RC U15: Niamh Rual

3rd place Gents RC: Rhodri Curnow

1st place Gents CBB: Simon Price

3rd place Gents BB: Mathew Thomas

1st Place Ladies BB Veteran: Victoria Williams

1st place Gents Trad: Ceri Thomas

3rd place Gents AFB: John Davies

1st place Ladies LB: Beth Duthie

1st place Gents LB: Alex Newnes

A big well done to the Welsh team on an excellent result and congratulations to everyone who brought home a medal.
