Over the weekend of 2nd and 3rd July 2016, 16 Welsh junior archers travelled to Lilleshall to take part in the 2016 Junior National Outdoor Championships.
This year over 330 junior archers took part in the championships which hosted the Home Nations Championship as part of the Saturday`s Junior World Archery 1440 Star.
Three of the Welsh team came first with Ryan Pinder from Radnor Foresters, Jakob Barrett-Rees from Blandy-Jenkins Archers and Thea Rogers of Llantarnam Archery Club bringing home gold medals which all helped the team to then secure second place in the Home Nations Championship, with the Junior Gents recurve team also finishing as the second Regional Recurve team.
In addition to the team successes, Steffan, Cyra and Owen Rawdin-Jones and Ben Walch from Blandy-Jenkins Archers and Amelia Thomas of Pentref Bowmen all secured first places and came home with gold medals.
Over the course of the weekend, the junior archers won 13 gold medals and 1 silver medal and all had the opportunity to speak to Patrick Houston who was the Lord Patron of the event before flying off to Rio for the Olympics.
As always, our junior archers represented Wales brilliantly and we would like to congratulate everyone who took part.
