The weekend of 14th and 15th of May saw ten Welsh archers travel to Evesham to compete in stage one and two of the Archery GB National Series.
I understand from my roving reporters that Stage 1 went right down to wire with the eventual winner of the gent’s recurve competition having to take part in a one arrow shoot-off in the semi-finals match to secure a place in the final. I’m pleased to say that the winner was one of our own Welsh archers and congratulations go to Jonathan Dyke of Llantarnam Archery Club who took first place.
Further details and pictures of Jonathan collecting his trophy for Stage One can be found on the Archery GB website
Stage two saw Dave Phillips, also of Llantarnam Archery Club, progress through to the semi-finals but unfortunately, a second Welsh win was not to be and Dave finished in fourth place.
Well done to everyone who competed in these stages of National Series and special mentions go to Jodie Grinham (AGB Glamorgan) who made it through to the quarter finals of the ladies compund for Stage Two of the competition and to Ryan Pinder, one of our junior archers from Radnor Foresters who finished fifth in the gents recurve first stage of the series.
Details of Stage Two can be found on the Archery GB website along with the full results and rankings from both days.
