Over the weekend of 25th and 26th April, three of our Welsh archers - David Phillips, Harrison Waterworth and Ryan Pinder - battled through the wind and rain to compete with over 150 archers for places on the British teams for a variety of championships which take place over the next few months.
Once again our archers did Wales proud with Dave finishing in first place in his paralympic category, Harrison finishing fourth in the junior recurve category and Ryan finishing in second place in the recurve cadet category. As a result of this selection shoot, Archery GB have now announced that Ryan will be shooting for GB at the Youth World Championships in the USA in June - http://www.archerygb.org/news/6302.php#.VUD7Qhh4WrW.
This is a great achievement for Ryan who recognises that his success has been greatly helped by the support and patience of his personal coach Roger Davies; by the support he has received from Susan Davies in her role as previous Chairperson of WAA and in the work that Susan, Roger and Langdon Davies have done to set up and coach Ryan and the other juniors at the Welsh Junior Academy. The support of Graham and Kevin Weller and Wales Archery has also been invaluable for all of our Welsh archers.
Well done and we wish you all continued success.
